Afghan Cultural Day in Athens is a key moment for our community and for everyone who wants to discover the richness of Afghan culture. For one day, residents, volunteers, families and partners come together to share music, arts, food and life stories.

Objectives of the day

The goal of this event is two fold:

  • to offer Afghan families a space of pride, sharing and joy;
  • to build bridges between Greek society and refugees, far from clichés and fear.

On the programme

  • food stalls with specialities prepared by Afghan families;
  • workshops for children (drawing, calligraphy, storytelling);
  • traditional dance and music performances;
  • testimonies from people who have experienced exile and built a new life in Greece;
  • information about our work (education, health, administrative support).

Why is this day important?

In a context where refugees are often reduced to numbers and files, this day is a reminder that they are, above all, people with a culture, talents, dreams and a story. It also gives Greeks, volunteers and neighbours the chance to better understand the reality of Afghan families, far from simplified narratives.

Building a more inclusive society

By taking part in the event or sharing it, you help build a more inclusive society where cultural diversity becomes a shared asset and not a barrier.
