Understanding and speaking the language of the host country changes everything. You can speak with a doctor. You can explain a situation at school. You can look for a job. Or simply talk with a neighbour. This is why we are launching a new language learning programme for members of the Afghan community in Athens and across Greece.

What the programme offers

This programme offers:

  • beginner and intermediate Greek classes in small groups;
  • conversation workshops to practise in a friendly, supportive atmosphere;
  • support to understand essential administrative documents;
  • help with learning English for young people and adults who need it.

The sessions are run by trained volunteers, partner teachers, and community members who already speak Greek or English. The goal is not only to learn grammar, but to be able to use the language in real life: to make an appointment, to fill in a form, to talk to a teacher, or to speak with an employer.

Practical information

  • The classes are free and open in priority to refugees or asylum seekers.
  • Groups are organised by level so that everyone can progress at their own pace.
  • Registration is done via our “Contact & Participation” page or during in-person support sessions.

One step closer to autonomy

This programme is part of our mission: to offer concrete tools that support integration, autonomy, and confidence for Afghan people in Greece.
