our mission

Since 2009, Afghan Community – Migrants & Refugees – Greece has been supporting Afghan refugees and migrants in Athens with determination and compassion. Our mission is to protect human dignity, provide practical support, and build bridges of solidarity through education, self-reliance, and community support.

The organization grew step by step, from local initiatives to a structured community project.

2009

First initiatives

Afghan Community began supporting Afghan migrants and refugees in Greece through informal community initiatives, local meetups, and mutual aid. Volunteers set up listening and guidance sessions in several neighborhoods across Athens.

Workshops & Support in Athens

We launched regular workshops: language classes, rights information sessions, administrative support, and one-to-one guidance to help families navigate life in Greek society.

2018–2021

Partnerships & Advocacy

We strengthened partnerships with UNHCR, local NGOs, and solidarity networks. The association takes part in public discussions, documents needs on the ground, and advocates for the rights of Afghan refugees in Greece and across Europe.

Bilingual digital platform

We launched the Afghan Community – Migrants & Refugees – Greece website to centralize resources, news, and practical tools in French and English, making information easier to access for all families.

Who are we?

Afghan Community – Migrants & Refugees – Greece is a non-profit association based in Athens, registered under number GRC-NGO-2009-25. Our governance is built on transparency, solidarity, and collective participation. Every member contributes voluntarily, without payment, so that every resource is reinvested directly into our humanitarian actions.
