Afghan cultural day in Athens: this event highlights music, the arts, food, and meeting people, to share Afghan culture and bring communities in Greece closer together.
Goals of the day
This event has two goals:
- to give Afghan families a space for pride, sharing, and joy;
- to build bridges between Greek society and refugees, beyond stereotypes and fears.
On the program
- food stalls with dishes prepared by Afghan families;
- workshops for children (drawing, calligraphy, storytelling);
- traditional dance and music performances;
- personal stories of exile and success in Greece;
- information about our work (education, health, help with paperwork).
Why is this day important?
At a time when refugees are often reduced to numbers and case files, this day is a reminder that they are first of all people, with a culture, talents, dreams, and a story. It also helps Greeks, volunteers, and neighbors better understand the reality of Afghan families, beyond oversimplified narratives.
Building a more inclusive society
By taking part in or sharing this event, you help build a more inclusive society, where cultural diversity becomes a shared richness rather than an obstacle.
