New Language Learning Program

Language class for Afghan refugees in a classroom.

Understanding and speaking the language of your host country changes everything: you can talk to a doctor, explain a situation at school, look for work or simply chat with a neighbor. That is why we are launching a new language learning program for members of the Afghan community in Athens and across Greece.

What the program offers

This program offers:

  • beginner and intermediate Greek classes in small groups;
  • conversation workshops to practice in a friendly atmosphere;
  • help with understanding essential administrative documents;
  • support with learning English for young people and adults who need it.

Sessions are led by trained volunteers, partner teachers and community members who already speak Greek or English. The goal is not only to learn grammar, but to be able to use the language in real life: making an appointment, filling out a form, talking to a teacher or an employer.

Practical information

  • Classes are free and open first to refugees and asylum seekers.
  • Groups are organized by level so that everyone can progress at their own pace.
  • You can sign up through our “Contact & Participation” page or during our in-person drop-in hours.

One more step toward independence

This program is part of our project’s mission: to offer practical tools that support the integration, independence and confidence of Afghan people in Greece.
